Dr. Jamie D. Olesen is an Edmonton-based family physician and the visionary founder of Hemingway Medical Spa Inc., where his passion for medical aesthetics and integrative health solutions shapes a practice rooted in whole-person care. Dedicated to offering alternatives beyond the traditional Canadian healthcare system, Dr. Olesen is a certified Biote provider who specializes in hormone optimization using testosterone and estrogen pellet therapy. He is a strong advocate for addressing hormonal imbalances as a foundational step—often exploring this path before considering pharmaceutical options such as antidepressants.
In his pursuit of cutting-edge treatments, Dr. Olesen regularly attends international conferences, including the Aesthetics and Anti-Aging World Congress in Miami and Las Vegas Cosmetic Surgery, along with numerous advanced education sessions each year. His commitment to continued learning ensures that Hemingway Medical Spa remains at the forefront of both the aesthetic and wellness industries.

Dr Jamie D Olesen Medical Director • Injection Practitioner • Consultant
Dr. Jamie D. Olesen has dedicated his career to helping individuals achieve the best version of themselves—combining the precision of advanced aesthetic medicine with the depth of functional wellness. As the founder of Hemingway Medical Spa, he offers a modern, patient-first approach that prioritizes subtle, evidence-based enhancements grounded in overall health and well-being.
Dr. Olesen’s medical path began with a passion for surgical care. During his early training, he published a first-author scientific paper exploring the impact of urinary continence on quality of life in pediatric patients with spina bifida—a topic that continues to inform his holistic, empathetic approach to care.
Currently a surgical hospitalist in the Department of Orthopedic Surgery at the University of Alberta Hospital, Dr. Olesen brings extensive clinical experience to his practice. His background in family medicine has shaped his belief in conservative, personalized treatments that maintain natural results. A strong advocate of the “less is more” philosophy, he guides patients toward thoughtful enhancements while remaining committed to preventative health and longevity.
Hemingway Medical Spa began as a boutique aesthetic practice but quickly evolved under Dr. Olesen’s leadership into a destination for comprehensive, functional wellness. Today, the clinic offers cutting-edge technologies like Emsculpt Neo, alongside services that go beyond traditional, insured healthcare—addressing hormone balance, physical health & vitality, and confidence from the inside out.
Raised in Sherwood Park and educated in Edmonton, Dr. Olesen earned his Bachelor of Science in 2009 and his Doctor of Medicine in 2013 from the University of Alberta, completing his Family Medicine residency in 2015. He remains a lifelong learner with advanced training in aesthetic medicine and is a member in good standing with the College of Family Physicians of Canada (CFPC), the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Alberta (CPSA), the Alberta Medical Association (AMA), and the Canadian Medical Protective Association (CMPA).
Throughout his practice, Dr. Olesen remains a steadfast advocate for patient safety, often advising patience to ensure the most enduring outcomes. He not only enhances physical appearance but empowers patients to make informed, health-focused decisions, ensuring they look – and feel – their best. Whether addressing physical concerns like body contouring, hair loss, or skin laxity—or helping patients navigate deeper issues related to confidence, energy, and wellness—Dr. Olesen leads with compassion, precision, and a deep respect for the human body.
His ultimate goal? To help every patient feel empowered, supported, and beautifully aligned—inside and out.
Taylor Nichols Technology Officer • Lead Technician
As Technology Officer, Social Media Manager, and Lead Technician, Taylor Nichols supports both the digital operations and the patient experience—directly assisting Dr. Olesen during treatments as necessary to ensure comfort, ease, and connection at every step. Her dedication to her patients allows for everyone to feel truly cared for, customizing each treatment to suit the patient’s needs, comforts, and goals.
She is a 2024 graduate of the University of Alberta with degrees in both Education and Drama. Her unique blend of creativity, technical know-how, and wholehearted enthusiasm makes her an indispensable part of daily life at the clinic. Directing patient coordination and consistently exploring new and innovative methods to utilize our in-house technology, Taylor ensures that Hemingway Modern Medical upholds its name, and continues to push the boundaries of modern medicine.
With a passion for making people’s lives better—even in the smallest moments—Taylor brings an abundance of warm and bubbly energy to work each day. Her background in drama gives her a natural gift for communication and collaboration, and her creativity shows up in everything from social media campaigns and clinic design to patient interactions. Whether she’s managing digital systems or helping patients feel at home, her personable nature and team-first mindset make her a joy to work with.
Affectionately known as our “hired young person,” Taylor proudly keeps the team current on trends and the latest lingo — ensuring Hemingway Medical Spa stays as fresh and forward-thinking as the people it serves. Outside the clinic, you can find her taking deep dives into her favorite films, cheering on the Edmonton Oilers, or honing her craft of digital content creation.

Lisa Dmytryshyn Lead Patient Liaison - Wellness Technician
With over 15 years of experience in the surgical field across various specialties, Lisa has dedicated her career to helping people feel their best. Throughout those years, she has served as a surgeon’s right-hand—guiding patients through pre-op, assisting during procedures, supporting them through recovery, and answering every question along the way. That journey taught Lisa the importance of trust, comfort, and compassion.
Today, at Hemingway Medical Spa, Lisa is grateful to continue that same level of care in a place where patients can feel good and look good. Her passion lies in blending functional wellness with aesthetic medicine—supporting our clients through every step of their treatment experience, just as she has throughout her career. Her medical background brings an abundance of intellect and expertise to her work, allowing for patients to receive even further holistic aid with every text, email, or phone call. As our lead patient liaison, she is the voice you hear on the phone, and the thoughtful messages you receive. She leads the patient experience with grace and with genuine joy, and can always be relied on to be the source warmth and comfort in every corner of our clinic.
Outside the clinic, Lisa happiest in the mountains or anywhere outdoors. She spent eight wonderful years living in Lac La Biche, and is an animal lover at heart—especially when it comes to her dog, Duke.

Charlie Remington Olesen CFO - Chief Fluff Officer
Beginning his career early, Charlie took to the field of medical aesthetics alongside his father, Jamie Olesen, as Hemingway Medical Spa opened its doors. Since then, he has proven to be an indispensable part of the practice. His work ethic has risen him through the ranks of Hemingway, taking him from a simple greeter to Chief Fluff Officer, available to patients for all urgent matters, such as comfort, pats, or kisses.
While now only working at Hemingway on a one-week-on, one-week-off schedule, he is certain to make the most of his time by treating patients to his quaint and gentle demeanor and care.
Lucille 'Lucy' Olesen Director of Puplic Relations
Lucy, though only having been at Hemingway for four years, has made her irreplaceable impact on the practice. Rarely missing a day of work, Lucielle is a hardworking, driven employee who has dedicated her non-napping hours to patient care, comfort, and overall experience. Bubbly, excited, and outgoing, Lucy has brought smiles to patients since her first day.
Starting as just a simple door greeter, Lucy has proven herself within Hemingway, and now works tirelessly at her customized role of ‘Director of Puplic Relations’, and is only a call or whistle away. She looks forward to meeting you!
